You are cordially invited to enjoy a deeply spiritual world class audio-visual art project, BALKANSKY. This show is a live act of electronic sound and vision mixed with traditional folk and jazz Eastern European music. It is performed by the world famous wood flute musician Theodosii Spassov and electronic composer and collaborator DJ COOH. The project is produced by "Kuker Music", a 2005 recepient of the Audience Award at BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music. This is probably the best original contemporary music created in Bulgaria today.

BALKANSKY artistic collaboration can be described as a live jam session of images and music, both acoustic and electronic, which creates unique cultural experience for performers and audiences alike. Combining motives from the ancient Bulgarian folklore and contemporary technology, the artists build a bridge between the past and present and in doing so are able to attract audiences of all ages to the music traditions of our country.

THEODOSII SPASSOV
In 2015 he was named a UNESCO Artist for peace. Newsweek magazine recognized Mr. Spassov as one of the most talented Eastern-European musicians, noting that "...He has actually invented a new musical genre" (April, 1995). He is the recipient of numerous international awards, including Special Prize of Detroit Flute Festival, 1994, The International Academy of Arts in Paris Award, 1996, and the Apollo Toxophoros, 2001, to name a few. Among his many awards are two highly coveted National Music Artist of the Year Awards (1997 and 2002) and Crystal Lyre (2015). This year the President of Bulgaria bestowed upon Spassov the highest cultural award in the country, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to Bulgarian culture. In the past 20 years he has toured all over Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and North America to a great critical acclaim.

IVAN SHOPOV / DJ COOH
Performs regularly every weekend in Europe, at festivals and clubs alike. He is one of the hottest commodities currently on the international electronic music scene. Prolific composer and active collaborator, his discography has been growing weekly in the past years. He has over 50 releases in the last five years alone, an achievement quite impressive for such a young artist. Ivan Shopov’s recent release for global powerhouse Ohm Resistance, The Temple has been acclaimed for its creative use of the electronica sound.

IVO “KUKER” HRISTOV
Is the mastermind behind БALKANSKY. His idea to create a product which links the tradition and modernity in Bulgarian music has resulted in this unique project. Hristov’s role in БALKANSKY’s live performances is to create visual imprints of the music. Through his interpretation the project is brought to life in a unique and unforgettable way. Prominent music producer and founder of independent Bulgarian label Kuker Music, he has produced the albums of the leading contemporary Bulgarian artists in the past 15 years. In 2005 the album Fairground by Ivo Papasov, released by Kuker Music, won the Audience Award at the traditional BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music competing with albums by Gotan Project, Ojos de Brujo and the likes.
